WHERE WE'RE WORKING
CANADA
Canada is our home base, the backbone of Gainline Africa. In rugby terms, Canada would be our forward pack, possessing the strength, determination and grit to make things happen. Through our national network of volunteers, we organize and co-ordinate all of our initiatives and programs. Working from Canada, we’re able to host events, build programs and develop initiatives to raise awareness of issues affecting African rugby communities. Through this raised awareness we hope to inspire a growing number of Canadians to transcend national borders and extend an arm of support to partner communities across the globe.

UGANDA
Although we seek to connect rugby communities all across Africa, we have focused our first efforts in Uganda, a beautiful country nestled in the Great Lakes region of the African continent. Working primarily in the northern Uganda region of Gulu, Gainline Africa Ambassadors are teaming up with local Ugandans to strengthen rugby communities after many years of brutal civil war.
Over the years the Gulu district has seen much blood shed and violent attacks from Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army(LRA). Employing terrible raid tactics the LRA has taken many of Gulu’s young boys and forced them to become child soldiers. Since 2007 relative peace has returned to Gulu along with many former displaced children and families.
Our Gulu project has partnered with nine high schools and one club rugby side. Our grassroots approach seeks to maximize positive impact and create a sustainable legacy of Canadian-Ugandan rugby community cooperation.
